About
Our History
Founded in June 1975
South Pacific Academy was founded in June 1975 when a few members of the local business community responded to the concerns of many parents that the territory lacked an educational institution that emphasized high academic standards and the use of English as the language of instruction.
In September 1975, the Academy first opened its doors as a private, independent, nonprofit school, admitting twenty-two students at the Rainmaker Hotel. Only four months later, the school would move to government-owned buildings in Tafuna and remain there for seven and one-half years. In September 1983, South Pacific Academy made a landmark move to its current site and proudly opened the doors to its own facility.
While the school has changed dramatically in its size and location, the founding vision has remained consistent – to provide the best possible education and equip students to meet the future with confidence and ability.
